President's Letter

FROM RENAE DEBATES

Welcome to the Edina Girls Athletic Association 2007-2008  sports programs.  This is the 33rd year that the EGAA has provided athletic programs for girls in Edina.  We offer sports programs for girls from the second through twelfth grades. As the needs of the girls in our community change, we change the programs to meet those needs.  Recognizing high school girls needed more sports opportunities, we recently expanded our flag football and volleyball programs to include girls through the twelfth grade, and we added an instructional volleyball program for fourth graders. Girls have enthusiastically responded, and the level of participation has been terrific. We are committed to the continued provision of safe and healthful sports opportunities  for our Edina  girls.

EGAA is a nonprofit organization whose volunteer members  serve on the EGAA board.  We meet monthly, with each board member's  term beginning in April and continuing minimally for a term of two years.  We focus on participation for all girls who live or go to school in Edina.  All girls have the opportunity to play, regardless of ability.  Our main goal is to emphasize teamwork, sportsmanship, learning the fundamental skills of the sport, and having fun!  Nearly 1,500 girls participate in our sports programs each year.  Currently, we organize and operate the girls'  house league sports programs of basketball, flag football and volleyball.

If you would like more information about our sports programs, EGAA, or how you  can be involved, please contact me or any of our board members. If you are interested in serving on the EGAA Board, please contact me. Remember, we rely on volunteers like you to serve on our Board and to coach our girls. We are trying to improve our programs and opportunities for the benefit of the girls! Your help, ideas, and support are welcome and appreciated.
