Edina Girls Athletic Association - Recreational Sports for Girls in Edina

EGAA HISTORY

The formation of the Edina Girls Athletic Association began in January 1974.  As the community saw the need for team sports for girls, the Edina Park And Recreation Department invited people to attend meeting and discuss the girls sports.

These visionaries formed a volunteer board. During the summer of 1974, bylaws were written, policies and procedures were formulated.  Thus, the Edina Girls Athletic Association was born, then incorporated in January 1975.

MISSION STATEMENT

The Edina Girls Athletic Association mission:

VOLUNTEER COACHING

Our girls need you! We can't do it without you!
Our sports rely heavily on having volunteer coaches for our teams, In Flag Football we have 24 teams, in Basketball we have over 32 teams, and in Volleyball we have over 50 teams! That's a lot of girls playing and a lot of coaches coaching!
If you have the interest and ability, please contact us or indicate your interest on your child's Player Registration form on-line and complete the Volunteer Coaches section.  All of our sports have professional referees that provide assistance and instruction. All the rosters and equipment are supplied to the coaches at a meeting prior to the season.
New this year, the Edina Park and Recreation Department mandates background checks on all individuals 18 and older who serve as coach, referee or on the Board of Directors in any Edina association. EGAA has hired Pinnacle Investigations LLC to perform the background checks. All findings will be kept strictly confidential.
